Beautiful Meadows and Nanga Parbat

Once I had the pleasure of going to the very beautiful meadows in the holy month of Ramzan. Those were the days when there was not a rush of people crowding to enjoy themselves. So, there were just a few foreigners whom I came across on my way to the eye-catching green fields of Pakistan.

On the same day, I reached the campsite located at 3,300 meters above sea level. It was there that I looked in complete wonder at one more attractive top of a famous mountain, the name of which is Nanga Parbat. It is that very mountain that has a height of 8,125.

Basic Information about Nanga Parbat

Nanga Parbat is a very high and famous mountain in Pakistan. It is one more name is a killer mountain. Its loftiness rises to 8,125 meters. It is the second-largest mountain in Pakistan and the eighth-largest mountain in the world. Do not forget that this is the very mountain that has taken the lives of many climbers. This is also the mountain which people view as the toughest mountain to go on. But you will be astonished to know that the Nanga Parbat base camp is very easy to go to.

The beautiful fairy meadows are in a green lush plain from where you are free to get very remarkable views of Nanga Parbat. This starts from an extensive glacier that ascends to a larger ice block. Fairy meadows are places of immense interest to all tourists that do not come in your access at lower prices. You have to pay much more than your expectations. This is because the people dominating there give more importance to money than higher levels of hospitality which is almost the basic feature of the conduct of many locals living in beautiful areas of Pakistan.

Raikot Bridge

If you have made up your mind to pay a visit to eye-catching fairy meadows, this is necessary for you to pass Raikot Bridge. Raikot is located on the Karakoram highway and it is the Raikot brigade from where you make your way to mountains that lie around fairy meadows. Raikot bridge is almost 80 kilometers away from Gilgit. Buses are used to go there. But I did not use a bus, because I chose to hitchhike there too and it saved my time and I reached there, ahead of other people who preferred to get on a bus.

On reaching Raikot Bridge, it is a must for you to get registered with local police and they will give you a security guard for your safety. Police will take this step for you because back in 2013, some foreigners were killed in an attack. It is said that it was the first and last attack in Gilgit-Baltistan. Because it is a fact after that incident, such a mishap never occurred to this day.

Fairy Meadows road

You will be required to use a local jeep to go along fairy meadows road. This is the sole legal method to go there. The jeep will take two hours to drop you there. Your almost 66 dollars will be spent on this journey, which is equal to 7000 local rupees of Pakistan. This is the cost that is charged for a round trip journey. People here a very deceitful and they will try to get you ready for a round trip because it is not necessary that on your way back from fairy Meadows, you will get the same passengers to be a part and parcel for your back journey to be of help to you to complete your round trip.

You cannot go there while walking on your foot and police too will not allow to do that. Also, never think that you will be able to dodge policemen. It is not a good thing to make such plans, although, sometimes, people can be successful with such kind of plans. But my suggestion to you will be that you should not choose for walking because it can involve you in risks.

Fairy Meadows Trekking

The jeep driver will ask you to descend from the jeep when you will be just some kilometers away from reaching the fairy meadows. There is almost two to three hours to trekking get to fairy meadows. After reaching there you will feel that you are amidst many worth-seeing natural scenes of excessive beauty.

The fairy meadows are to be seen in the area of Gilgit-Baltistan and to go there you do not need any experience of climbing to mountains except for the journey of six or seven kilometers.

The round trip for Nanga Parbat will require nearly 8 hours. Just a few kilometers next to fairy meadows, you will come across one more campsite the name of which, is Behal campsite. Many beautiful scenes will necessarily please your senses, so you should never miss the idea to spend some time there.

When you take up the trail after spending some time at Behal base camp, your journey is a bit more difficult. There is always a lot of silence which is only broken when some masses of ice or rocks fall down the mountains.

Things of your need for Trekking to Nanga Parbat

You must take into consideration many things before you decide to do trekking to Nanga Parbat. One of the things you need to do is your travel insurance which you should not miss in any circumstance.

Food and water

The food offered to tourists at campsites is a bit expensive. The price of the rice offered to you is almost 350 Pakistani rupees. It is also here that bottled water is given to you at a higher price. So, if you have brought with you, your purifying pills that is something that will be very beneficial to you.

Accommodation

Nanga Parbat and Fairy Meadows have a good variety of accommodations. Tents are also available there and in addition to tents, you will find very luxurious accommodations for you. In the tents, you can stay with just one hundred PKR for one night. If you choose to live in a luxury residence, may be 2 thousand will be enough. But these off season prices.
