There is one place in Hunza that most tour packages skip because it requires an extra day Naltar Valley. Forty kilometers from Gilgit city, Naltar sits at 2,800 meters with three glacier lakes that change color through the day, a ski resort used by the Pakistan Air Force, and a silence that is genuinely difficult to find anywhere in the north. This 5-day package is built around including Naltar without sacrificing any of the standard Hunza highlights.
The itinerary covers Altit Fort, Eagle’s Nest, Attabad Lake, Passu Cones, Khunjerab Pass, Hopar Glacier, Nagar Valley, and Naltar Valley – all in 5 days by air. You fly Islamabad to Gilgit in 45 minutes, our driver picks you up, and you are in Karimabad before lunch on Day 1.
Starting from PKR 86,000 per head. Private Prado TZ NCP, 4 nights’ accommodation, complimentary breakfast, and airport transfers included.

Our driver meets you at Gilgit Airport arrivals. Drive to Karimabad takes approximately 2 hours on the KKH with a stop at Rakaposhi viewpoint at 7,788 meters, the closest roadside view of Rakaposhi anywhere on the highway. Check-in and rest.
Afternoon visit to Altit Fort over 900 years old, fully restored by the Aga Khan Trust. The fort grounds include Altit village and the Royal Garden, originally planted for the ruling Mirs of Hunza. From Altit, we drive up to Eagle’s Nest viewpoint at approximately 3,100 meters. At sunset, you can see Rakaposhi, Ultar Sar, Diran, and several other Karakoram peaks simultaneously. This is consistently the moment couples mention first when they return. Evening free time at Karimabad bazaar. Overnight stay in Hunza.
Early breakfast and full day excursion to Khunjerab Pass. First stop: Attabad Lake 30 kilometers from Karimabad. The turquoise water against the grey mountain walls is one of the most photographed scenes in Pakistan. Boating and jet skiing available on site (not included). Continue to Gulmit, Passu Village, and the Passu Cones seven sharply pointed rock spires rising from the valley floor. A 15-minute walk to the viewpoint is worth the effort.
From Passu, continue to Sost and then Khunjerab Pass at 4,693 meters the highest paved international border crossing in the world. The plateau before the summit is a wide open high altitude landscape with glaciers visible in every direction. Carry warm clothing it is typically 10 degrees cooler at Khunjerab than in Karimabad. Drive back to Attabad or Hunza for overnight stay.
After breakfast, visit Baltit Fort the most iconic structure in Karimabad. Built in the 13th century by the Mir family and used as the royal residence for 700 years. The guided tour covers the full fort including the royal quarters, women’s quarters, watchtower, and the terrace with a direct view of Ultar Sar glacier. Entry included in your package price.
After the fort, we drive to Nagar Valley across the Hunza River from Karimabad, approximately 1.5 hours. Nagar Valley sits in the shadow of Rakaposhi (7,788m), Diran (7,257m), and Golden Peak (7,027m). The valley floor is planted with apricot and apple orchards. We continue to Hopar Valley where the Hopar Glacier 15 kilometers long descends from the mountain wall to the valley floor. You can walk directly onto the glacier without any technical equipment. The scale is genuinely difficult to comprehend until you are standing on the ice. Drive back to Hunza. Overnight stay.
Naltar Valley is 40 kilometers from Gilgit city approximately 2 hours from Karimabad. The road descends from Hunza to Gilgit and then climbs steeply into the mountains on the other side. Naltar sits at 2,800 to 3,000 meters with pine forests, the Pakistan Air Force ski resort, and three glacier lakes.
The three Naltar lakes Naltar Lake, Bashkiri Lake, and Satrangi Lake are the main attraction. Satrangi (meaning ‘seven colors’) changes color through the day as the light angle shifts blue, green, and turquoise in different conditions. The lakes are a 30-minute walk from the road. The walking trail passes through pine forest at high altitude bring a warm layer even in summer.
This is a long day approximately 10 hours round trip from Karimabad. We return to Hunza or Gilgit for overnight stay near the airport.
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Gilgit Airport approximately 2 hours from Karimabad, 30 minutes from Gilgit city. End of services.
Note: Return flight from Gilgit to Islamabad must be booked separately. Book flexible tickets Gilgit flights are weather-dependent. Our team will inform you of any delay or cancellation as soon as we are notified.
Most Hunza tour packages skip Naltar Valley. The reason is logistical it is not on the KKH route and requires a dedicated day to visit properly. The road to Naltar branches off at Gilgit city and climbs 40 kilometers into a separate mountain valley. Adding it to a standard itinerary means reorganizing the entire schedule.
We built this 5-day package specifically so that Naltar does not feel rushed. Day 4 is reserved entirely for the valley no other stops, no rushed timings. You have the full morning at the lakes and the afternoon for the return journey.
What makes Naltar different from the standard Hunza highlights is the absence of crowds. Attabad Lake and Khunjerab Pass see thousands of visitors per day in peak season. The Naltar lakes on the same day may see twenty. The silence at Satrangi Lake in the morning, with the pine forest behind you and the glacier above, is a different experience from anything else in the itinerary.

Cherry Blossom | Mar-Apr | Open, snow possible on trail | Open | Excellent – blossom + lake |
Summer | Jun-Aug | Best color, clear water | Open | Peak season – book early |
Autumn | Sep-Oct | Still open, cooler | Open until Nov | Best light, fewer tourists |

Naltar Valley specific note: The lakes are most colorful in clear sunny weather. Overcast days reduce the color contrast. June, July, and September mornings tend to give the best lake colors.

The 5-day package includes two attractions not in the 4-day package: Naltar Valley on Day 4 and Nagar Valley with Hopar Glacier on Day 3. Naltar Valley has three glacier lakes including Satrangi Lake which changes color through the day. The price difference between the two packages is PKR 17,000 per couple. For most couples, the extra day and extra attractions are worth the minimal price difference.
Yes. Naltar Valley is connected by road from Gilgit city approximately 40 kilometers, 1.5 to 2 hours’ drive. The road is paved up to the ski resort and partially unpaved beyond. Our Prado handles the road comfortably in all seasons except heavy winter snow. The walk from the road to Satrangi Lake takes approximately 30 minutes on foot.
Gilgit flights are weather-dependent and can be delayed, particularly in monsoon (July-August) and winter (November-February). PIA and Serene Air operate the route. We recommend booking flexible tickets and building a one day buffer into your travel schedule if possible. Our team monitors flight status throughout your trip.
The PKR 86,000 price is per couple two people sharing one room. For a third person sharing the same tour (separate room), contact us on WhatsApp for adjusted pricing. Solo booking on this itinerary is also available at a per-person rate.
Yes. Common extensions include adding Skardu (2 extra days via the Gilgit-Skardu road) or spending an extra night at Attabad Lake (Famree Resort) for a more relaxed pace. Contact us on WhatsApp with your preferred dates and we will build a customized itinerary and quote.
We use standard to deluxe hotels in Karimabad with mountain views typically Eagle’s Nest Hotel, Hunza Serena Inn, or similar. For Naltar day (Day 4), we return to Hunza or stay near Gilgit depending on timing. If you want a specific luxury hotel upgrade (Luxus Hunza, Famree Resort, Darbar Hotel), contact us for pricing we can accommodate most requests.
