Islamabad travelers have a choice that Lahore and Karachi travelers do not: the by-air option is genuinely practical from Islamabad. PIA flies from Benazir Bhutto International Airport to Gilgit Airport in 1 hour and 15 minutes, several times per week. From Gilgit, Hunza is a 2-hour drive. This makes a 4-day Hunza trip from Islamabad completely achievable.

The Naran and Babusar Pass route is the most scenic. You stop in Naran overnight, then cross Babusar Pass the next morning before descending to the KKH. Open May to October. Mountain flying requires clear visibility and flights are delayed or cancelled during heavy cloud, particularly in monsoon (July-August) and winter fog.
